huán chú jiē shān yě 。 qí xī nán zhū fēnɡ ， lín hè yóu měi 。 wànɡ zhī wèi rán ér shēn xiù zhě ， lánɡ yá yě 。 shān xínɡ liù qī lǐ ， jiàn wén shuǐ shēnɡ chán chán ， ér xiè chū yú liǎnɡ fēnɡ zhī jiān zhě ， niànɡ quán yě 。 fēnɡ huí lù zhuǎn ， yǒu tínɡ yì rán lín yú quán shànɡ zhě ， zuì wēnɡ tínɡ yě 。 zuò tínɡ zhě shuí ？ shān zhī sēnɡ zhì xiān yě 。 mínɡ zhī zhě shuí ？ tài shǒu zì wèi yě 。 tài shǒu yǔ kè lái yǐn yú cǐ ， yǐn shǎo zhé zuì ， ér nián yòu zuì ɡāo ， ɡù zì hào yuē “ zuì wēnɡ ” yě 。 zuì wēnɡ zhī yì bú zài jiǔ ， zài hu shān shuǐ zhī jiān yě 。 shān shuǐ zhī lè ， dé zhī xīn ér yù zhī jiǔ yě 。
环   滁  皆  山   也 。 其 西 南  诸  峰   ， 林  壑 尤  美  。 望   之  蔚  然  而 深   秀  者  ， 琅   琊 也 。 山   行   六  七 里 ， 渐   闻  水   声    潺   潺   ， 而 泄  出  于 两    峰   之  间   者  ， 酿    泉   也 。 峰   回  路 转    ， 有  亭   翼 然  临  于 泉   上    者  ， 醉  翁   亭   也 。 作  亭   者  谁   ？ 山   之  僧   智  仙   也 。 名   之  者  谁   ？ 太  守   自 谓  也 。 太  守   与 客 来  饮  于 此 ， 饮  少   辄  醉  ， 而 年   又  最  高  ， 故 自 号  曰  “ 醉  翁   ” 也 。 醉  翁   之  意 不 在  酒  ， 在  乎 山   水   之  间   也 。 山   水   之  乐 ， 得 之  心  而 寓 之  酒  也 。

Concerning the mists in the trees go off at sunrise and the caves grow dark at sunset when the clouds return back under the sky, this is the change from bright morning  to  gloomy evening in the mountains. In spring, the wild flowers bloom and send out a faint fragrance. In summer, the fine trees are very beautiful, luxuriant and shading. In autumn, the wind blowing，the frost condensing, the sky is high and clear. And In winter, water falls down and rocks appear. Those are the four seasons in the mountains. Climbing on mountain at morning and turning down at evening, the scenery of the four seasons are various and the joy is also endless.

负 者  歌 于 滁  ， 行   者  休  于 树  ， 前   者  呼 ， 后  者  应   ， 伛 偻 提 携  ， 往   来  而 不 绝  者  ， 滁  人  游  也 。 临  溪 而 渔 ， 溪 深   而 鱼 肥  ； 酿    泉   为  酒  ， 泉   香    而 酒  冽  ； 山   肴  野 蔌 ， 杂 然  而 前   陈   者  ， 太  守   宴  也 。 宴  酣  之  乐 ， 非  丝 非  竹  ， 射  者  中    ， 弈 者  胜    ， 觥   筹   交   错  ， 坐  起 而 喧   哗  者  ， 众    宾  欢   也 。 苍   然  白  发 ， 颓  乎 其 中    者  ， 太  守   醉  也 。

As carriers singing on the road and pedestrians resting under trees, the preceding people shouting and the following responding, the olds bending down and the children being held and walking to and fro ceaselessly, they are the Chuzhou's people touring about. Fishing by the stream，the stream is deep and the fish are greasy. Making wine by the spring water, the water is fragrant and the wine is crystal-clear. Delicious dishes made by the mountain specialities and the vegetables picked up from the wilderness put on the table in a jumble，that is a banquet which is held by the prefecture chief. The joy of the banquet and drinking doesn't reside in the string and wind instruments but in hitting the bull's eyes in succession, playing chess in victory and toasting with each other. Sometimes sitting down, sometimes standing up and sometimes uproarious talking and laughter, they are the guests of the banquet. However, who is the man with his grey hair and dropped down among all the people? He is the drunken prefecture chief himself.

yǐ ér xī yánɡ zài shān ， rén yǐnɡ sǎn luàn ， tài shǒu ɡuī ér bīn kè cónɡ yě 。 shù lín yīn yì ， mínɡ shēnɡ shànɡ xià ， yóu rén qù ér qín niǎo lè yě 。 rán ér qín niǎo zhī shān lín zhī lè ， ér bù zhī rén zhī lè ； rén zhī cónɡ tài shǒu yóu ér lè ， ér bù zhī tài shǒu zhī lè qí lè yě 。 zuì nénɡ tónɡ qí lè ， xǐnɡ nénɡ shù qí wén zhě ， tài shǒu yě 。 tài shǒu wèi shuí ？ lú línɡ ōu yánɡ xiū yě 。
已 而 夕 阳   在  山   ， 人  影   散  乱   ， 太  守   归  而 宾  客 从   也 。 树  林  阴  翳 ， 鸣   声    上    下  ， 游  人  去 而 禽  鸟   乐 也 。 然  而 禽  鸟   知  山   林  之  乐 ， 而 不 知  人  之  乐 ； 人  知  从   太  守   游  而 乐 ， 而 不 知  太  守   之  乐 其 乐 也 。 醉  能   同   其 乐 ， 醒   能   述  其 文  者  ， 太  守   也 。 太  守   谓  谁   ？ 庐 陵   欧 阳   修  也 。

Thereafter, when the sun sets to the west in the mountain, people and their images begin to lie scattered. Then the prefecture chief begins to return and all his guests follow behind. The forest restores to be shaded and the birds begin to sing and fly up and down. The tourists have gone and then the birds can joy. However, the birds only know the joy of the mountains and trees, and they may be unaware of the people's joy. People only know the joy of their tour when they followed the prefecture chief, but they may be unaware of the prefecture chief's joy. Who can enjoy together with all his guests and followings when he is drunk, and can state the story when he is sobered? He is the prefecture chief. Who is the prefecture chief. He is Ouyang Xin who came from Luling.
